I have owned the original Sony DVP-FX810 and that was an adept player too. I sold that and purchased this one. The resolution is almost twice as high as the original. Simply purchased this but I can tell you the display really shines compared to every other DVD player (portable) that I’ve come across. I’m sure more players will have the high resolution soon. The audio system is also much louder than the original.

The battery is supposed to last 6 hours at lowest brightness. With my previous one which is basically this I did pull off 5 hours at medium brightness so 2 movies should operate all right before the low battery symbol shows. Until you get your product back, you would not have the luxury of using an alternative or replacement. Your next best option is to repair the DVD ROM yourself. If the drive is still not cleaned, run the whole process a second time. This is one of the easiest and fastest ways of repairing DVD ROMs.

An alternative to using the head cleaning CD and fluid is the use of a moist linen cloth. Soak a piece of dry linen cloth in spirit and make it moist. Then use the moist cloth to wipe the tray of your DVD ROM and the laser head. Do not use cotton to wipe the head, as it would then leave some of its finer fragments on it.

Suppose the disk you inserted is not showing up on the computer disk drive. The message given is ‘disk not found’. Simply take out the DVD from the tray and wipe it with cotton or soft linen. Wipe it in a clockwise circular fashion from outer to the inner base. This would ensure that no harm is done to the data structure. When the disk is cleaned, put it into the drive and run.

As far as solving the problems of your DVD ROMs are concerned, the best advice is to try repairing DVD ROMs by yourself first, and then call for help only if you fail to solve them.

This short report is simply about avoiding expensive repairs to your large screen TV. Most of the problems we see with them can be prevented by following a few simple steps:

1. Take care with liquids

It seems obvious, but you would be amazed at the number of units we see that are damaged by liquid spills. Also, when you clean the screen don’t let any liquid drip down the screen as it will get into the control panel and cause a problem. Spray cleaners on the cloth only. NOT on the screen.

2. Replace the old cable and splitters

This can give you a problem when you least expect it. Like everything else, cable wiring will wear out and when it does, you can get something called an “intermittent ground fault”. This is essentially a short in you cable input. In a lightning storm, this could spell disaster for you TV. On top of that the old cable will degrade your signal quality and you won’t get the picture quality you pay for.

3. Unplug it during a storm

Whether it’s lightning or not. Because cable is buried in the ground, a distant lightning strike could indeed knock out your set. So when the storm starts, unplug everything: TV’s, DVD players, cable and satellite boxes, EVERYTHING. Including the cable input to the TV or cable box. You can save yourself a lot of headaches later if you do.

4. Don’t watch TV during a thunderstorm
