my old serial to usb cable’s (which came with my telephone modem) damaged… so i bought an identical serial to usb cable from the local computer parts store….. but when i plug it in, its recognized and installed as USB SERIAL device whereas my old cable was recognized and installed as TSBU153 cable…. i guess the new cable has a different ID than the old one, but even when i’ve changed the COM ports, my dialing software says COM PORT NOT DETECTED. its like they did a copyright procedure with the cable… like the TSBU153 cable provided with their package will only work….

Is there a way i can disguise my new usb cable driver information to appear as the TSBU153? Or is there another workaround to this mess? I am having real trouble connecting to the internet. i just dont understand why the new cable doesn’t work… they’re physically identical (having same heads and pins)! someone please help me.
