Philip Sumpter asked:

After growing up with traditional TV, many people including myself can say that watching TV on your PC with the Internet is fun and adds another dimension to getting favorite entertainment. That means using the Net like a free Worldwide library to retrieve all kinds of free content that fits any mood. In retrospect to that, the unconventional way to watching favorite TV shows, sports, movies, and tons of other cools stuff simply adds more freedom.

To ensure the greatest watching TV on your PC experience, means choosing a top product that offers the best platform to Internet television. But when doing so one must consider his/her budget, time on hand, and tech know-how to name a few. What exist today are 100s if not 1000s of software products and services online such as, live Satellite TV feeds Networks–non-software, PC Satellite TV software, and PCTV hardware to choose from. Researching this means putting in a lot of time to discover where are all the top brands located, then choosing the one that fits your need.

As for newbies who want to cut through the chase and get the easiest-quickest path to enjoying the best of Internet TV on their computers, comes with downloading software or accessing a network. There’s no tech know-how needed, wasting time, or spending $100s like with hardware to get all kinds of Worldwide television shows. In fact, paying the small one-time fee is equivalent to taking someone out to a movie including buying popcorn and drinks.

The Pitfalls To Broadband Internet Television

When considering a top software or non-software service, one must understand some of the downfalls associated with watching TV on your PC using the Internet. Firstly, the video quality will be good to excellent depending on the channels source, a computer’s video software, and Internet connection speed. Although when using a 500kbps DSL or High Speed Internet connection will work just find, some channels will have poorer video quality than others. But to do that will mean paying more.

Another downfall is there will be times when channels won’t play when clicking their links from a TV player. This is due to channels coming and going, broken channel links, and Internet media providers not offering them 24/7. Subsequently, there will be times when some channels experience temporary down times that can be accessed later.

These are just some of the popular downfalls and are to be expected since Internet TV doesn’t live in a perfect World. However, choosing a top brand software for instance can help correct some things such as broken channel links. Therefore choosing a top Satellite TV player included with the package that offers a Scan for Available Channels is key.

Rather than notifying and waiting for tech support to remove broken links, the user can eliminate the entire process quickly when using the “Scan for Available Channels” which scans the merchant’s channel database.

If consumers keep in mind the Internet is still in it’s baby-stage and is vastly improving, great things will come with patience. In retrospect, research has shown that a large number of video viewers (home and Internet) are increasing each year. Although the number of Internet video and TV watchers are no where’s near the number of home video/television watchers, the young generation (18-30s) as well as the older generation (50+) are becoming more fascinated with Internet videos and television.

When considering the current trends watching TV on your PC seems to make sense when canceling or downgrading Satellite/Cable and video subscriptions is a must. What’s so fascinating about Internet television is having a Worldwide free library and with a stroke of a key can access any show, event, news, video, movie, music, sport, channel, adult entertainment, etc.

Some of the benefits to Watching TV on your PC Using Software or Network…

* Creates a desktop computer Internet TV instantly with tons of favorite and popular free content

* Create a laptop computer Internet TV that allows the same as above but with mobility that allows watching from any location at work, college, home, on a trip, etc.

* Stress-free television whereas no more fighting over the remote, sharing with others, or when privacy is simply preferred

* No more missing big sporting events even when blacked out or only available on paid TV

* Something for ages, genders, nationalities to watch in his/her own language

* Great for bi-lingual, multi-lingual individuals, or when studying a new language

* Using a desktop/laptop computer Internet TV to connect with a home television set

Although the benefits are many, one could use his/her imagination or see how a top product could resolve a particular television issue at home or when on-the-go. No monthly fees, hardware installation, or poor weather interference to be concerned with. Watching TV on your PC makes a great companion when paid TV isn’t available or fun anymore.

HOME THEATER

Nothing beats having a killer home theater system. Big screen TV with high-definition, surround sound where I can plug in my iPod Nano, the latest DVD technology, video on demand, an Xbox 360, a hookup for my digital camcorder – the list goes on and on. Man, I’d love to have an awesome home theater inside my house. I’d never go outside if I did! And there’s just some much stuff to choose from when it comes to building your own home theater. Seating, systems, design, brand names, video games; I could easily spend thousands of dollars creating my dream home theater system. Of course, I don’t have thousands of dollars to spend, but I can still dream about it!

My perfect home theater system would be completely wireless. No cables or cords whatsoever. And it isn’t as far fetched as it sounds. More and more home theater systems are being built and designed to be wireless. That doesn’t just include the home theater itself. That includes other aspects of the home theater like video games, PVRs, DVD players, video cameras and more. Pretty soon, the home theater cable connection won’t even have a cable to connect! Now how awesome is that?

I’d have a big screen HDTV with crystal clear surround sound that would blow my mind. And when I got my home theater installed, up and running, I would plop myself on the couch with a seven-pound bag of popcorn and watch anything and everything that I can. Hey, that’s the point of having a great home theater sound system, to watch stuff! The images would be clear, the sound immaculate and it would all work with only one remote control. Now that’s a great home theater!

Of course, I would have an Xbox 360 or Playstation hooked up to this bad-boy. High-definition games played on a massive, high-def screen? I’d have every video game humanly possible and would completely immerse myself playing them!

A home theater allows you to experience TV rather than just sit and watch it. Imagine watching a hockey game where a hard body check on the boards rattles your bones too. Or watching war movie thinking you’re going to be shot at. Or watching your home-movies on such a screen that it makes you feel like you’re at the event all over again! Or playing the hottest and coolest Xbox or Playstation games! With your own home theater, seating is always at a premium and it’s an experience like no other. And when you want to listen to music, just hook up your stereo system to your home theater. Imagine listening to Dark Side of the Moon on high-definition, high fidelity surround sound speakers? Any music fan will tell you that it would be the ultimate audio experience, and a home theater allows you to enjoy just that!

In the early 1990s, people decided to cocoon, or stay home rather than go out. Not so far after, home theaters got more and more complicated and detailed. Home theaters used to be exclusively for the super-rich, and their home theaters are actually movie theaters right at home, with home theater seating and everything. But with some careful saving and research, anyone can have a great home theater to fit their budget, lifestyle and space. As for me, one day I’ll have an awesome home theater of my own, with a huge TV, amazing sound – all wireless of course! Until then, I’ll just keep on dreaming about it!

Steve Salt asked:

HDMI is the latest connection type found on all new modern TV’s, most modern Home Theatre amplifiers and many computer monitors. But why is it important to buy equipment with HDMI connections, and how much do you need to spend on HDMI cables?

HDMI stands for High Definition Multimedia Interface, and was designed to be a backwards-compatible replacement for the DVI interface commonly found on computer monitors. The standard called for a single cable that could carry a high-definition video stream, up to eight channels of digital audio and a single Consumer Electronics Control Signal. Its primary purpose was to become the standard connection between all consumer AV devices and computer displays. Today, all new projectors and televisions will come with at least one HDMI connection and usually more to receive hi-definition video.

Perhaps the most significant part of the HDMI specification is the support for HDCP, High-bandwidth Digital Copy Protection. HDCP-protected content such as Blu-Ray movies can only be decoded by licensed HDCP players, and any devices that connect to the player, must also be HDCP certified, or the player will only output a standard-definition signal. For this reason, when buying high-definition projectors, televisions or other devices, it’s best to make sure they have HDMI connections and are HDCP certified.

Be careful when hooking up your home theatre system. It is not possible to have a HDMI connection to your amplifier, and then a component connection to your projector, as the HDCP protocol will prevent the player from sending a hi-def video signal due to the final connection not being via HDMI. It is possible, however, to connect your blu-ray player or cable box to your TV by HDMI and use a separate connection, such as a digital optical cable, to send audio to your amplifier.

HDMI carries both audio and video. This means only a single cable is required to connect a TV to your Blu-ray player or cable box. If you use a separate Home Theatre amplifier, then the player and cable box can first be connected to the amplifier, which is then connected by another HDMI cable to your TV. In this setup, the amplifier uses the audio channels and passes the video channel on to the TV. If you use the approach, look for a high-quality Home Theatre amplifier, with several HDMI inputs for all your sources, which also support HDCP.

Finally, a few words on buying HDMI cables. The prices of HDMI cables can vary enormously, with certain branded cables costing 10x the price of the same length unbranded cable. In practice, HDMI cable quality has very little impact on the quality of the audio and video transmitted through it. Unlike previous home video cable standards, HDMI is an all-digital connection, so the signals are much more resistant to interference and noise. For short cable lengths, almost any HDMI cable will be fine. Longer lengths can be more susceptible to connection dropouts due to HDCP signal loss, so consider spending a little extra on these, but keep away from the most expensive brands as they offer very little extra benefit.

If you don’t already know you can now watch satellite TV on PC with PC satellite TV software. If you have been looking online for various types of software I’m sure you have come across a host of programs, and you may be unsure which one to purchase or which one really is the best. Is it really worth it? I will definitely have to say yes. The trick is finding the best program. So I have decided to outline the benefits that you get from the best PC satellite TV program I have come across.

Benefits:

1. Never worry about missing your favorite show. The program uses many many satellites to retrieve satellite programming. So your favorite episodes or sports are always being played. The user guide makes it very easy to find exactly what you’re looking for when you want it the most.

2. You get all the local channels you are currently getting with your current provider. However, there are no monthly fees involved. By using the PC satellite TV software you get access to all the local and international channels at one low cost.

3. The software enables all the FTA channels, giving you approximately 1000 to 3000 Free to air channels. If you love football or love cricket, you will be able to find it easily.

4. If you got a laptop and a working internet connection you can watch satellite TV on the go. Or you can do what I do and hook up your laptop to your big screen grab yourself a cheap wireless mouse and keyboard, and watch all your favorite satellite programming right on your big screen. You also get to use your big screen TV as a computer.

5. No expensive equipment or installation fees. With a Satellite PC TV software program you don’t have to install any dishes or purchase any receivers

6. The system never gets zapped or goes down like conventional FTA systems.

7. In addition to all the channels you also get all the Sirius radio channels etc.

Now different software programs will naturally cost different amounts. Usually you get what you pay for. I have tried various kinds Satellite PC TV software programs costing me anywhere from 39.95 to 79.95. After finding the best program I have did a complete review at my blog. I’m very picky when it comes to having the best of the best. So when I make a recommendation it’s usually very good and most people I know are satisfied with the advice I give them. Satellite TV to PC Elite Edition 2007 is the best software program I have come across. It’s so easy to setup and use even a baby could do it, HAHA.

I wonder how much I have saved from making the switch better yet how much time I have saved, finding what I’m looking for. If you want to learn more about the program you can come check out the review I have done on it at my blog here. Please leave a comment if you can, It will make me happy. Thanks guys, have a good one.

Frankie Anon asked:

You have all seen the adverts proclaiming to offer FREE SATELITE and CABLE TV on your PC or Laptop. What is the truth? Well if ever there was a ‘Half-truth’, these glossy, enticing adverts portray it.

HOWEVER, don’t get despondent – you CAN get most of what you’ve been promised – IF YOU ARE SMART!

“Live Football on PC” – “Live Satellite on PC” “TV on your LAPTOP for FREE”

HERE IS THE REAL TRUTH about these claims:: The fact is “There is no such thing as a Free Lunch: ALL SITES CHARGE A FEE.

And if you think you are going to watch those advertised “1,000 plus channels” just like watching your TV then MISTER, you are living in ‘Cloud Cuckoo Land’.

What WILL you get for your money?

Truth is, you will more likely get around 200 channels. And if you are lucky – about 100 will be watchable. (Most of those will be in Japanese, Chinese, French, Italian, Arabic, or other none English language). Some will have subtitles. MOST of them will most likely at best only be of good enough quality to watch in a frame occupying a quarter of your screen, using “Media Player” or “Real Player” viewers, or other free to download viewer.

Another problem you may experience is that the software is either already out of date, or soon will be. (Software needs updating regularly. That costs a lot of research and expertise. ) Beware of ‘Cheap-Jack adverts selling ‘obsolete’ information.

That’s the BAD News

Here’s the GOOD News:

You CAN get to watch Satellite TV on your Desktop or Laptop. It will NOT cost you a fortune. You CAN get supplied with regular updates without extra charge.

So how much will it really cost?

Well if you buy from one of the more expensive sites (aimed at Americans) you will probably pay from $39.95 through $99.99, and up to $399.99cents. If you buy from sites aimed at the U/K European market, the glossier adverts with – to put it mildly – somewhat over-stated claims. will charge you around £18 to £39. Or you can go for one of those adverts seen on EBay offering as low as £1.99p – £2.99. You could be lucky and get a bargain – BUT BEWARE! You will more likely be stuck with exactly what a sensible person would expect for that price!

(My old Papa used to say, “Son, there is a fool born every minute.” Well maybe that was true in HIS day, but believe me it is more like “One every second” today.

BASIC SOFTWARE SUPPLIED FROM ANY SITE IS MUCH THE SAME – IT IS THE REGULAR UPDATES WHICH ARE IMPORTANT.

If you are happy to accept that you will mostly be watching stuff in a quarter screen frame, and that at any one time your 100% reception-quality programs that you can watch (whatever country you are in), will number nearer fifty than three thousand, then you CAN get yourself a bargain. (Well paying a one-off payment of around £10 is a bargain in anyone’s eyes when you think what you get.)

What DO you get! – The ability to watch LIVE SPORT of all types all over the world. Also other live programs streamed from Satellite, including variety shows, pop music, and even those “naughty XXX-rated adult channels. And there are usually several films either showing in English, or with English sub-titles.

Often you will get to see live football, soccer, baseball, ice hockey, etc. showing the team YOU support playing live when it is not being televised in your own area. (For instance: Many Premiership games and cup games are not shown on English TV live, but are beamed to other countries

This is true of many sporting events – and if you think: You can pay £10 to watch ONE world heavyweight boxing match on Satellite – or watch them ‘free’ on your PC or Laptop, then that alone has been worth your fee!

Bottom line is that if you don’t expect miracles, and you choose a seller that provides updates FREE, then you really do get a bargain.

That needs mentioning again: A SITE THAT PROVIDES UPDATES FOR FREE.

Buying the software off many sites is like buying LAST YEAR’S CALENDAR – You WILL get it at a knock-down price – but it is already out of date. That is why they sell it so cheap and give you free re-sale rights. (You are not going to fall for that are you!)

How do you know which one to buy? You can do one of two things – pay out and try them all, and see which ones have suckered you, or take my word for it and buy the best. (They are only best because they provides regular free updates – which are essential – and sell at a fair price.) The basic programs are all much of a muchness.

As I said, “There is no such thing as a “Free Lunch” and although these updates are free to YOU the consumer, the vendors have to pay for them. Many sites sell you the basic stuff at a knock-down price, but don’t supply updates – and look for the next unwary punter.

The few more honest vendors have no choice but to charge for supplying updates. They either do this by charging a regular update fee, or set the price to include regular free updates.

As a vendor I KNOW what a fair price is – and what is a RIP-OFF. Below are details:.

Using advertising means like ‘Adwords’, and selling off my site I originally needed to charge £19.95p to make a small profit. HOWEVER, a group of us banded together and were able arrange delivery of regular updates at wholesale price. Due to this, we have been able to slash that price right down. (Some, of course still sell at the old prices they charged ranging from £18 to £40). I am one of those that can (and does) sell at £7.95p on my site and still show a reasonable profit.

Unfortunately, so many punters go for the cheapest offers, end up disappointed, and don’t risk trying again. The result is that enticing punters to pay £7.95 is like trying to get a Guinness-drinking Irish Navvy to buy Champagne at £85 a glass. HOWEVER, with the world-wide-web ever expanding, the number of punters smart enough to pay a couple of quid more for the real McCoy make it worth my while continuing to advertise the service..

Honesty pays in any business – if you want to keep your good reputation. Genuine vendors MAY be a bit over the top in the way they advertise what they are offering, but they will NOT rip you off.

If you’ve read this far you must be interested in TV on your PC, so do yourself a favour – DON’T expect ANYONE to be able to supply you with thousands of Satellite and Cable channels of TV quality on your computer, with software regularly updated for a few pence or cents.

EQUALLY, don’t allow yourself to be CONNED and RIPPED-OFF by highly exaggerated glossy adverts full of pretty pictures, or claims of 3000 plus reviews by those with a vested interest. And don’t be conned by ridiculously low Ebay prices.

If you do want to watch the DISCOVERY Channel, Hollywood Movies, United versus Real Madrid, or ‘The Big Fight’ live, whilst working on your computer, and with no aerial needed: no Boxes or gadgets to fit: No further payments: And always have updated. Software, then there are a few honest sites supplying this at a FAIR PRICE. And that fair price is approximately £8 to £10 ($15 -$20)

I WILL REPEAT THAT – £8 to £10. Pay over that and in my book you’ve been ripped off.

You can search on the Internet for such sites (make sure they supply free updates), or go straight to one of the here: http://www.TVoverPC.com (One Off payment of £7:95p)

Don’t expect miracles – or to get more, or better pictures by paying more – BELIEVE ME, IT WILL NOT HAPPEN.

However, for a ‘one off’ of £7:95 you will get to watch live matches, films, other live sports and programs that you may never have broacast on your own TV. And watch them whilst working on your Laptop or PC.

Do not worry about the legality of watching for free what others are paying through the nose for. It is quite legal as these programs are ALSO broadcast ‘FREE-TO-AIR’ to countries that have not yet got ‘Pay-per-View’ Satellite or Cable set-ups yet. It is from these free satellite feeds that you will be recieving your pictures.

Sony Playstation Portable or PSP has become very versatile in terms of its applications and functional approach. The initial thought of having a portable game console have paved the road of multi-tasking and multi-function console, it sure has out grown its creativity from creator. The PSP console is more than just a game consoles, it has the capability as a portable video & movie player, web browser, personal organizer, music player and more.

I’m going to share with you how do I put music on my PSP and making it my universal digital walkman. It is a very simple procedure to put any of your favorite music into PSP. Before we begin discussing how to download or transfer music on to the PSP, we must understand that PSP do not accept all forms or formats of music file. Depending on the version of firmware your PSP is loaded. Early version of PSP firmware can only playback mp3 music format and it does not support playback of WMA and WMV audio files, making it less appreciable. However much later, firmware of PSP is able to playback WMA and WMV audio files. To do that on any early version, the PSP firmware needs to be upgraded to playback WMA and WMV audio files directly from PSP. And even if your PSP are able to playback WMA and WMV audio files I would not recommend because of its file size compare to mp3 format.

Generally mp3 music or audio file format takes up far less storage space compare to any audio or music file format. To convert any audio file format is relatively a simple task as lots of mp3 file format converter programs are already available from the internet. You can find huge list of mp3 format converter from the search engine and most of them are capable of converting any music or audio file format to mp3. The procedure provided by most mp3 file format converter program are most dummy proofed. Hardly anyone will find any difficulties in using these programs.

Once you have converted you favorite music files to mp3 then you are ready to put music on PSP. To put music on PSP you first need to connect your PSP to your PC by using the USB cable. Next, you press “Home” button and follow by scroll to “Setting” using the left-right buttons. And finally you search for “USB Connection” and press the “X” button to enter your selection.

On your PC, it will begin to show a removable drive has been detected and mounted on “My Computer” window. Click and open the new removable drive and a folder named “PSP” will appear within the drive. Open the “PSP” folder and you should find “Music” folder from within it. If the “Music” folder does not exist, manually create it yourself.

Now you can begin to put your favorite music on PSP console. Simply drag and drop if you like or copy & paste your favorite music and store in this folder of the memory stick. Once you are finished with transferring or putting your music file onto PSP, press the “O” button on your Sony PSP console to exit your PSP from the USB connection. Unplug your Sony PSP from the USB connection and you can begin playback your mp3 music files and simply enjoy your music anywhere and anytime you want.

As you might have heard, there’s a new console in town: Xbox 360? Elite. For those of you who are not hardcore gamers or are parents of one, you may not know much about the Xbox 360 Elite that was recently released by Microsoft. The Xbox 360 Elite is the third and most expensive variation of the Xbox 360 console in addition to “core” and “premium.” Xbox 360 Elite is equipped with a premium black finish, three powerful core processors, full surround sound, a high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) cable, and DVD playback. Xbox 360 Elite is now the premier Xbox 360 console package that includes a large 120GB hard drive, a HDMI port, a high-definition cable. The Xbox 360 Elite is set up to extend the entertainment experience of the regular Xbox 360. The Xbox 360 Elite is based on the Zephyr motherboard, which features a HDMI port and an improved GPU heat sink. The $480 Xbox 360 Elite is black instead of white, includes a hard drive that is six times as large as the previous 360s and twice as big as the rival PS3s. The HDMI output makes for easier hookups to HDTVs. While it’s primarily a game machine, the Xbox 360 Elite is a digital media hub as well. Users report that initial setup of the Xbox 360 Elite is easy; you just select the language and then either establish your Xbox Live account or re-link to an existing account. The consensus of opinion on the web seems to be that the Xbox 360 Elite is mainly for people who haven’t bought a Xbox 360 yet and that the Xbox 360 Elite is a great choice for only $80 more than the premium version. The Xbox 360 Elite is still cheaper than Sony’s 80GB console, but does lack some features such as a Blu-ray drive or any other integrated WiFi solution, as some gamers necessitate. The bottom line opinion, though, seems to be that while it’s neither a must-have upgrade for existing 360 owners nor as feature-packed as the PS3, the Xbox 360 Elite’s combination of top-notch gaming and digital media features make it the current game console of choice.

Xbox 360 Elite Features and News

The Xbox 360 Elite also includes a black wireless controller and black Xbox LIVE? headset. There is currently a rumor of a price drop on the way that the core and premium will get a $50 price drop but the Elite will only get a $29 price drop.
